Mission Teams...
CHM welcomes groups/teams who desire to serve the Lord by working alongside missionary Jan Thompson at #1 Hope Street Orphanage and Institute of Hope. CHM is able to accept 5-6 teams each year. Largely, CHM needs work teams. Because of the expanding needs of the orphanage, teams that can provide services such as plumbing, electrical work, masonry, carpentry, mechanic work and other construction related services are extremely valuable to us. However, teams with other skills will be considered. Of course, the specific goals for each team will depend on the gifts and talents of the team members and the priorities of tasks CHM needs accomplished.
Limited opportunities...
To be considered for one of these limited opportunities, each team must be lead by a CHM Board Member, and the team must be willing to plan their activities according to the current needs of CHM. Each team will be required to pay a nominal fee and bring much of its own food and supplies. CHM also asks teams to gather and bring much needed supplies from the US for use at the orphanage and CHM.

CHM Trip Specifics
Plane tickets to Haiti cost anywhere from $800 to $1000 per ticket depending on the time of year, day of departure and return, etc. We do prefer to fly Delta Airlines, but will consider other airlines if a team member has flier miles or if tickets are considerably cheaper.
The only way to get much needed supplies to Christopher's Hope Ministry, to Jan, and to the "Hopesters" is through teams. If possible we ask that team members take the maximum amount of luggage allowed. There are extra baggage fees for this that cost around $250 extra.
The board also asks that each team makes and takes their own food for the trip (Yes! This can be done!) We feel that the meals held together with Jan is a ministry in itself, Jan rarely gets to enjoy a homemade, American meal with friends and family, and this is one thing the teams can do! It is also a great way to involve other people that cannot take a short term mission trip. Does your grandma make the best meatballs around? Ask her to make a couple dozen to send! Have a friend that makes the tastiest smoked meat around? See if they would send some. These things taste amazing after a long, hot day of work!
We realize and understand that there may need to be fundraising to make a trip to Gonaives, Haiti possible for you! But we ask that before any fundraising is done using Christopher's Hope Ministry or Jan's name that you speak with a board member!
