#1 Hope Street gained its name from its actual address. When the name of the street was translated and Jan realized what the address was, she said she knew God wanted this place named....#1 Hope Street.
#1 Hope Street is home to about 45 orphaned children. Jan likes to call them "Hopesters" because despite their brokenness they still have hope in Jesus.
The house is a two-story structure with seven bedrooms, a large dining room and a meeting room. Thanks to many hours of labor and support from missions-minded people, #1 Hope Street has running water, a generator for when power goes down, working restrooms, and spaces appropriate for raising many Haitian children.
It is a priority to create a "family atmosphere" for the "Hopesters". The staff serves as surrogate "Mommies" and "Papas."
We are not licensed to do adoptions out of our orphanage. Because we are a family, we also do not do sponsorships for one particular child. Of course your gifts, love and support are greatly appreciated, and we try to distribute them evenly to all of the "Hopesters".
